First Annual FFI-SOC Fly Fishing Tournament
FFI Southern Council Fly Fishing Tournament Information
What – A Catch and release fly fishing tournament for trout. Winning team gets 30% of the tournament fees.
Where – The tailwaters of Bull Shoals and Norfork Dams. Mountain Home, Arkansas. Tournament headquarters will be the Vada Sheid Community Development Center (The Sheid) on the ASU Mountain Home campus.
When – October 4 & 5, 2019
Who – Two angler teams, fishing from boats, Kayaks, or wading. Team captain registers with TourneyX.
How Much - $100 per team for pre-registration, $150 per team face to face registration at the Sheid.
How to Win – Use the TourneyX app on your smart phone to submit time-tagged and geo-tagged photos of trout lying on a “Hawg Trough”. The team with longest combined length of four fish wins. The tournament officials will provide each team with a Hawg Trough.
Awards Banquet – October 5, at the Sheid at 6:00 p.m. Each competitor gets a ticket. Additional tickets are available at $20.00 each.
Schedule:
· Final registration – 1:00 pm Friday, October 4, at the Sheid
· Competitors Mandatory Briefing – 3:00 pm, October 4, at the Sheid
· Issuing of Hawg Troughs – following Competitors Briefing
· Competitors Party – 6:00 pm, Friday, October 4, at the Recreational Building in River Bend Park (Beer and Brats and Free!)
· Tournament Begins – 7:00 am, Saturday, October 5
· Tournament Ends – 3:00 pm, Saturday
· Deadline for submitting photos – 3:30 pm
· Awards Banquet – 6:00 at The Sheid
FAQ
Do you have to register by mail? No. You can register and pay online using the SOC website. Or you can register and pay for the tournament with TourneyX.
Do I have to register with TourneyX? Yes, you must be a registered member of TourneyX. This does not cost you anything! You may also register and pay for the tournament through the TourneyX website.
Must I have the TourneyX app loaded on my smartphone? Yes, we will be using TourneyX to manage the tournament. It will collect the photos of the measured fish the geotag and time tag information. TourneyX will automatically determine your four longest fish.
How are the photos to be submitted to the Tournament authorities? By submitting them via the TourneyX app.
What if I don’t have a cellular data connection when I land my fish? The TourneyX app can save the picture and info until you have cellular data. But you must transfer the info to TourneyX before the end of the tournament at 3:00 pm.
What watercraft are permitted? Any that can safely navigate the White and Norfork tailwaters: White River Jon Boats, drift boats, pontoons, kayaks
Are Guides permitted? Yes. But guides may not touch fish (except to assist in photography), rods, or flys.
Will the Tournament Committee provide the “Hawg Troughs”? Yes, they will be issued to competitors on Friday afternoon. There will be a $20 (cash) deposit required for them.
Will the tournament be postponed or cancelled due to inclement weather? No. The tournament is on, rain or shine, or high/low water.
Is “high water” expected during the tournament? No, we expect “normal” water conditions. (for whatever that means!)
Will there be T-Shirts available? Yes, there will be Tournament T-Shirts available for purchase at $20 each. The T-Shirt art is by Duane Hada.
There is a new menu item called FFISOC Online Store to use for sending payments for pre-registration fees. It is located under the Fly Fishing Tournament menu above. It is necessary to send a separate email to Pat Smith a copy of the Tournament Registration Mail Form with each team member's contact information and team name, if you desire to use one.
